Rolling Shelves
The increased accessibility that you will enjoy with a few
rolling shelves in your kitchen will be a highly loved kitchen element. You can have these kind of shelves
installed professionally or you can install them yourself, especially with the models that are made specifically
for homeowner installation. With the proper hardware and a well-constructed shelf you can be on your way to
more easy times in the kitchen.
Not only do sliding shelves make life easier, they are also a
visually appealing addition to your overall décor. The decorative element of these shelves is more important
than stationary shelves as they get to be seen regularly: the top, sides and possibly even the bottom. These
are mainly made from wood and can be bought unfinished to be able to personally apply the finishing coat yourself
or you can get the shelves already finished. There are generally sides to keep everything on the shelf but
the height of the sides can vary from product to product and is a deciding factor on which one is best for your
use.
Of course these shelves that slide out can be used in a variety
of places in your home like bathrooms, cabinets and in garage storage units. The ease of movement is made
possible by the glider style sliders that are affixed to the sides of a cabinet. It’s a highly practical idea
and is getting more and more popular for the lower shelves in the kitchen and for bathroom vanities. The load
capacity differs depending on the model and hardware, so be sure to verify that you are purchasing the right
sliding shelf for your needs
This do-it-yourself kit for pull out shelves is from Woodcraft
that has retail stores as well as an online store. There are two choices of kits: the 22” – 24” Shelf
Kit or the 20” – 22” Shelf Kit. The shelf is produced with dovetail grooves to be sized down to fit the
various different cabinet openings between 6” – 32 ½” wide. The sides of both of these shelves are ½” 9-ply
Baltic Birch, the front is ¾” 13-ply Baltic Birch and the bottom is ¼” melamine for quick and easy cleaning.
Includes the Blum Sliders of whichever size you need (the 22” – 24” or 20” – 22”), all the necessary hardware and
instructions, so all you need is some time and a tool or two and you’ve got yourself some fine sliding shelves
installed and ready to please.
The sizes of pullout shelves can vary greatly so you will
probably be able find just the right fit for any kitchen cupboard. The sides of the shelves can get to a
height where they look a lot more like a drawer than a shelf, and there are slanted sides, which allow you to be
able to see the contents of the shelf from the front while the high sides at the back prevent items from falling
out if the shelf gets opened or closed quickly. A Pullout Sliding Bread Drawer has a sliding top as well to
keep breads and pastries fresher for longer with sides that are almost 8” tall.
Whether you want an easier to access shelf or want to actually
get the most use out of the cabinet space and store items right to the back, a few rolling shelves will be the best
choice in the kitchen, bathroom, pantry and garage.
